Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is a multi-platform video game based on the movie with the same name. It was developed and released by Vivendi Games for the Playtation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, PC, Nintendo DS and the Game Boy Advanced on March 14th, 2006, 17 days before the movies release. A Wii version was released shortly after the consoles release.


In the game, you play as Scrat as he try's to escape from the upcoming flood. Similar to platform games, you run, jump, collect nuts, and fight off enemy's. There are also several mini-games which can be played as either Sid, Diego or Manny. All characters are voiced by the original actors who portrayed in the movie.[1]


The video game went into surprisingly positive reviews. Alex Navarro of Gamespot awarded the game 7.2 out of 10 calling it "a fun, engaging platformer that ought to appeal to multiple audiences." [2] IGN gave the Playstation 2 and Xbox version 7.9 out of 10 concluding the review with "This is a charming little platformer."[3]


  • The video game was released as it's working title Ice Age 2: The Meltdown because it's final release was not relieved at the time. For it's final release, the creators decided to remove the 2 making the movie called Ice Age: The Meltdown however most other countries decided to keep the 2.
